Friends of Parr Fold Park recently announced the reopening of its new look dog friendly cafe and now the historic park is set for even more good news with a cash injection of over £300,000 from section 106 monies to help improve facilities.

The funding will go towards making the park more accessible, improvements to infrastructure and its open spaces, as well with a much welcomed refurbishment of sports facilities and tennis courts as the council strives to make the beloved green space a key hub for the development of Tennis in Salford, with related work worth £71,700 set to be carried out on resurfacing six courts, and providing training and coaching sessions.

Local councillors along with the parks friends group are said to be supporting the cash injection which would see public accessibility and usability of the park greatly improved.

It is hoped that once the improvements have been carried out, Parr Fold will take its place alongside other parks within the city in holding a coveted Green Flag status.
