City Mayor Paul Dennett has praised the people of Salford for staying home to save lives.

His message comes as the city released a series of photos taken by CCTV cameras showing deserted streets, shopping centres and playgrounds.

    Mayor Dennett said:

“I can’t thank the people of Salford enough for doing the right thing and staying indoors.

“It’s strange to see our city so deserted and it is difficult, I know, but it is the only way to beat this virus and get back to normal life as soon as we can.

“Please, please keep up the good work, particularly this weekend when the weather is forecast to be warm and sunny. Anyone can catch this virus, everyone can spread it – so follow the government instructions and we will all get through this together.”
