Shortly after 8am on Sunday 21 May 2017, police were called to reports that a paraglider had crashed at City Airport in Barton, Salford.
Witnesses to the incident spoke of how the para-foil folded in on itsself which caused the man to tumble 50ft to the ground.
The ambulance service attended and a 55-year-old man was taken to hospital with life threatening injuries.
The cause of the incident is as yet unclear, so police are appealing for any witnesses to get in touch.
Sergeant Lee Westhead from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said:

“My thoughts are with the man and his family at this time.
“My officers are working hard to establish the circumstances of this incident. If you saw what happened or have any information, then I would ask that you contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit as soon as possible.
“I am particularly keen to speak to individuals with photographs or videos of the incident or the aftermath.”
