Police in Eccles are asking for the publics help in identifying a man following an assault which happened on Brookhouse Lane in Eccles last Thursday 17th March.

A woman was walking her dog and approached by a man who made homophobic remarks before punching her and knocking her to the ground. She is said to have suffered serious injuries including a broken jaw.

Detective Inspector Steven Hughes, from Salford CID, said:

    Quote

"This was a unprovoked and particularly vicious attack on a victim who was walking her dog in broad daylight. The comments made by a man clearly point to underlying homophobic reasons behind the assault.

"We want to reassure the public that we're dealing with the investigation with the utmost importance and vigour. CCTV enquiries have been carried out and we're now releasing an image of a male we would like to speak to as part of our on-going investigation.

An appeal has been issued to anyone who may recognise the male pictured to get in touch by calling 0161 856 9403 or 0161 856 5235, or report it online at https://crowd.in/KE7qMS. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
