Police are investigating after shots were fired for the second time in four days, raising fears that Salford may once more be in the grip of gang related gun crime.

Officers attended and found damage to a property consistent with a firearms discharge.

Two women, one man and a boy were in the address at the time of the incident. One occupant received minor injuries from smashed glass.

A blue Peugeot 307 was found nearby which is believed to be linked to the incident.

Police are appealing for information about a light coloured Vauxhall Corsa which was seen at the scene at the time of the incident.Superintendent Mark Kenny of GMP’s Salford Borough said:

“I have no doubt people will be concerned by this incident and understandably so but I want to assure local residents that we are have launched an investigation.

“We are quickly working through a number of lines of enquiry today to try to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and as a result people may notice an increased police presence.

“We are keen to speak to anyone who can help us establish that picture of exactly what happened – particularly with regards to a light coloured Vauxhall Corsa which was seen at the incident and may have been involved.

“I would ask that anybody with information contacts police immediately.”

Anybody with information should contact police on 101, quoting incident number 2075 of 09/08/17, or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
