  • POLICE ARE SEARCHING FOR A DRIVER WHO ALLEGEDLY FAILED TO STOP AFTER HITTING A 5-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN HIGHER BROUGHTON

    Police are looking for the driver of a vehicle which allegedly failed to stop after a collision with a 5-year-old girl in Higher Broughton at around 4:35pm this evening (Thursday 20th august 2020).

    GMP has confirmed that the driver did not stop at the scene on the junction of Douglass Street and Hamilton Street.

    An appeal for witnesses has now been made.

    Unconfirmed reports are that the vehicle involved was a people carrier, but police have so far not confirmed it.

    The young child is said to have sustained injuries but they are non life threatening.

    GMP have issued a statement saying:

    "At 4.35pm on Thursday, police were called to reports of a collision on Douglas Street, Salford.

    "Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

    "The driver of the vehicle failed to stop at the scene.

    "Enquiries are ongoing."
