Officers from Greater Manchester Police's transport unit made an arrest late yesterday night (8th Feb) in the Salford Quays area of the city after pulling over a male driver and testing him at the road side for drugs.

His test result came back as a positive and so the man was arrested on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle under the influence of cannabis.

Roadside tests are followed up by an advanced urine and blood test back at the police station with samples sent off to a laboratory for further testing.

He will appear in court at a later date.

Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, whether legal or not, can seriously impair your ability to drive and jeopardises people’s safety on the roads GMP have said that they will use every tool at their disposal to stop this from happening.
