Police have sent a warning to parents after they have observed an increase in youths climbing onto the old railway in Cadishead and then congregating at the viaduct, overlooking Cadishead Way.

They say that this has resulted in numerous incidents of items being thrown from above onto passing vehicles and/or houses in the new estate below.

Cadishead Way is a fast road and such incidents could easily lead to a serious/fatal road accident.

A number of youths were removed and arrested following an incident like this yesterday.

In a stark warning to parents, officers said:

"If you believe your child may be venturing here, please take the time to educate them about the dangers and consequences. We have a number of initiatives in place to catch anybody throwing items from this private land – they will be caught, arrested and prosecuted."
