As we reported yesterday evening, shortly before 8.25pm on Saturday 23 February 2020, police were called to reports of a firearm being discharged at a vehicle on Weaste Lane in Salford.

Officers attended but the offenders had fled the scene prior to police arrival.

There have been no reported injuries.

Officers carried out a forensic investigation and have found evidence that shots had been fired on Willows Road, a cordon was put in place whilst enquiries were carried out at the scene.

A police cordon remains in place this morning with the bottom end of Weaste Lane closed completely, drivers are being told to seek alternative routes.

Police say that so far no arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.

Patrols in the area were stepped up over-night.
