    Police have launched a murder investigation after the fatal stabbing of a teenager on Pevril Road in Weaste yesterday evening (Weds 21st April).

    A 17-year-old boy was taken to hospital after being stabbed in the chest in what police believe to be a targeted attack, unfortunately the youth has died from his injuries.

    A 17-year-old suspect has been arrested and remains in police custody this morning.

    Pevril Road remains cordoned off this morning at both ends as police continue their investigations.

    Officer Stuart Wilkinson of GMP's Major Incident Unit has said that investigations are at an early stage so far but the force is working hard to identify and bring to custody those responsible.

    Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting incident 2921 of April 21 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
