  • POLICE LAUNCH MURDER INVESTIGATION, FOLLOWING THE DEATH OF A MAN IN ECCLES

    Police were called to an address on Cook Street in Salford at 7.26am this morning (Tuesday 22 June, 2021) to a report of a concern for the welfare of a man.

    Emergency Services attended, and sadly discovered the body of a 48 year old man.

    Police quickly cordoned off an area on Cook Street and Madeira Place, whilst forensics officers carried out searches of the area.

    A murder investigation has now been launched into the circumstances surrounding his death.

    Patrols have been stepped up in the area.

    Detective Chief Inspector Ben Cottam, from GMP's Major Incident Team said:

    "Detectives have now launched an investigation and are following a number of lines of inquiry to try and piece together what has happened and to find and bring to justice whoever is responsible.

    "There will be an increase in officers in the local area, while the initial stages of the investigation progresses.
