Just after 9 pm police were made aware of a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian close to St Johns Church on Bolton Road in Pendlebury, it appears at the moment to be a hit and run.

A manhunt involving the force helicopter and ground units is now underway to try and find the driver who is said to have abandoned the vehicle and made off on foot.

The vehicle involved is being reported on social media as a BMW, which was found abandoned shortly afterwards on Park Lane, Irlam o th heights. The windscreen of the vehicle is being reported as badly damaged.

It has been reported that one person has been taken to hospital by ambulance but at this point, their condition is currently unclear.

Bolton Road remains closed off just after the roundabout following the incident.

If you were a witness or have any information which could help police then please contact them via 101.
