Police responded after residents complained of two males trying doors and windows in the Queen Street area of Salford on Friday night (22nd July).

Officers conducted an area search and stop and searched two males matching the description given by the residents.

One male was released without charge and sent on his way whilst the other was found to be in possession of an axe, a flick knife and a quantity of cannabis.

An hour later officers conducted another stop and search where a group of males made off on foot.

After a short pursuit the officers managed to detain one male and found that he had thrown a rucksack containing a kitchen knife, bolt cutters and again, some cannabis.

Both males were arrested for the offences and taken into custody for further questioning.

Residents around the Irlams o' th' Height area are being warned to be vigilante after a number of attempted robberies in the area.
