Just before 3:50pm this afternoon (28/11/19) fire crews were called out to tackle a fire which appears to have broken out in a room above a popular Chinese eatery in Worsley.

Flames could be seen coming from a windows, and smoke billowed from the side of the Tung Fong Chinese restaurant, which is situated next door to the recently revamped Worsley Delph.

    A spokesperson for GMFS said:

"We were called at 3.48pm to a restaurant on Worsley Road to reports of a fire involving the roof space of the building.

"Crews from Farnworth, Agecroft, Whitefield and Stretford are in attendance."

Roads are currently gridlocked around the busy nearby motorway junction after closures were put in place whilst the fire crews extinguished the fire.

Drivers are being advised to avoid the area if possible.
