Consultation will soon take place with the public on Thursday 19th of October, between 5-7pm at the Banqueting Suite in Buile Hill Park.

This is a pre-planning consultant event in which proposals for 58 new homes to be named as 'Melody Gardens' on the former site of All Souls & St John Vianney RC Church which has been left in a state of dereliction since it was demolished in 2011.

The drop in event will provide local people with an opportunity to review and provide feedback on the proposed development before finalising the design and a subsequent application for planning permission is made.

The area is well known to have suffered from shortages of school places over the past few years, with and article on the Salford Star website describing how new children to the area have been forced to attend a reopened school in Broughton due to a shortage of places.

That area of Weaste already suffers from huge problems with fly tipping and rubbish bag dumping so any plans put forward must take this into account.

The area has increasingly come under pressure as more homes have recently been built on the site of the old laminate factory on Liverpool Street, The former Willows Rugby Ground, The former Cricket ground, The former site of de la salle college, the former site of Tootal Drive school and further proposals to build upon the site of the former Hope High School.

Weaste is already an area that many would consider to be over-saturated by development and in dire need of much increased funding due to the seemingly ever increasing pressures on its local services.

It will be interesting to see just how many of these homes will be deemed affordable as well as to how much will be put back into the local area via section 106 fees.
