Radio 1's coveted afternoon show will be broadcasting from the BBC's base at Salford Quays from September as former host Scott Mills steps down after 24-years at the Beeb.
New hosts Dean McCullough and Boltonian Vicky Hawkesworth are set to replace Mills who is heading to BBC to replace veteran broadcaster Steve Wright who announced that he too is heading on to new adventures within the BBC.
Vicky is a regular host on Radio Manchester and Dean has presented his weekend morning show on Radio 1 since last September.
The new afternoon slot will be the latest high profile show to come from outside of London as the broadcaster seeks to outsource its content across the UK.
Dean and Vicky will co-host the show together, Monday to Thursday, between 13:00hrs and 15:30hrs.
Announcing the Across the UK plans, director general Tim Davie told staff the scheme would make the BBC "a genuinely UK-wide organisation", adding: "People must feel we are closer to them."
