  • RAIL SERVICE DISRUPTION AFTER A BODY WAS FOUND ON THE TRACKS IN SALFORD

    Rail services between Patricroft and City Centre Manchester are currently either suspended or delayed after a casualty was discovered on the tracks shortly after 5am this morning (Friday 6th).

    Paramedics arrived at an area of track close to Patricoft station in Eccles, not long after and the person was pronounced dead at the scene.

    An investigation has now begun to determine the circumstances of how the body came to be there has now started.

    Attempts are currently being made to identify the person and inform the family.

    As a result all routes were blocked during the morning rush hour.

    Police say the incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner.

    Passengers using the line were being advised to use other options to travel else face delays this morning.

    National Rail says,

    "The emergency services are dealing with an incident between Patricroft and Manchester Victoria / Manchester Oxford Road.

    "As a result, all lines are blocked."

     

    Travel to Wales and Manchester Airport was also disrupted.
