RESIDENTS TOLD TO STAY INDOORS AS ARMED POLICE DEAL WITH AN INCIDENT ON LEICESTER ROAD

We have been made aware of an ongoing incident on Leicester Road in Broughton.

Police have not yet released information as to the nature of the incident but we are being told that there is a large police presence and officers can be seen negotiating with a man through the smashed front window of a property.

Another witness has said that armed police officers were seen at the rear of the building.

Police say that road closures are in place, and are asking drivers to find alternative routes around the area.

Residents are being advised to stay inside their homes until the incident is dealt with.

We have asked Greater Manchester Police for comment.
