    Riot gear clad police officers attended an incident on Castle Way in Swinton in the early hours of Wednesday morning following a report from the public of a man claiming to have a gun during a disturbance at a property on the street.

    Witnesses described a man smashing windows and throwing items from the window of a property at around 3:30am on Wednesday morning (8th July).

    A spokesperson for GMP said:

    "Officers were called to Castle Way, in Swinton, at 3.30am yesterday to reports of a disturbance.

    "A 40-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of affray and criminal damage."
