Traffic management has now been removed. The only remaining cones on the road are to manage traffic flow in the area until the bridge opens.

Salford City Mayor Paul Dennett said:

“The A57 is a very busy route and Eccles, Irlam and Cadishead residents have had to put up with significant disruption and delays while the works took place.

“I’d like to thank them for their patience and understanding at what has been incredibly frustrating time for them.

“This city council is fully committed to getting the new road and lifting bridge open as soon as possible so the road layout can flow as was originally agreed. But the only thing stopping this now is the opening of the bridge which Peel need to address.”

Tonight (Friday 10 November) Sale Sharks play a match at the AJ Bell Stadium and extra resources have been put in place by the council and stadium company to help the traffic flow.

Staff from Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) will be manually controlling the traffic lights at both Peel Green roundabout and the stadium with support from a specialist traffic management company.

Councillor Roger Jones, Executive Support for Transport at Salford City Council, said:

“I want to echo the comments of the City Mayor, the bridge needs to open.

“In the meantime, the staff on the ground on match day will provide the best traffic flow possible.

“And TfGM now have a dedicated camera link to their control room, so the timings of the traffic lights can be changed at any time.

“We’re doing all we can to help the junction flow and keep traffic moving.”
