Salford stands to benefit from this to the tune of up to £30m with part of the funding coming from the Mayors fund and the rest coming from local Council and local contributions.
The scheme would mean new routes would be opened up between the new RHS Bridgewater and Parr Fold Park as well as Worsley College and Walkden Train Stations.
The proposals would also see a link up to Chapel St which is undergoing a bit of a face lift itself.
It is as yet unclear which paths the new routes will take but they will become just part of a much larger network spanning the whole of Greater Manchester with an estimated total length of 1,800 miles.
Andy Burnham said,
Quote"The schemes are an exciting next step towards building the bee network.
“When complete it will be the largest joined-up walking and cycling network in the country.
“We’re embarking on an active travel revolution in Greater Manchester and I’m looking forward to the first Bee Network schemes opening later this year.”
