Salford is to mark Holocaust Memorial Day with an event in partnership between Salford City Council and The University of Salford.
The memorial event is to take place later this month on the 29th of Jan and salford.media will be there to pay our respects and stand in remembrance of those who were brutally murdered by the Nazi regime.
As the world marks the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp - Salfords University will host an event with a theme of "Stand Together" to make the special occasion.
Salford City Mayor - Paul Dennett will open the event with an introduction which will be followed by moving contributions from the Walkden High School Anne Frank Ambassadors, The community choir of Whitefield's Synagogue and a musical accompaniment from the Salford based BBC Philharmonic Orchestra.
To conclude the event a candle lighting ceremony will take place in remembrance of those who lost their lives during the atrocities of the second world wars Nazi Holocaust as well as the more recent genocides inflicted upon Rwanda, Bosnia, Dafur and the people of Cambodia.
Let this happen never again, for anyone.
These disgusting acts of human barbarity inflicted misery, suffering and death on millions of innocent people, the cost in human life is incalculable.
