Salford City Council have released a statement on the death of her majesty the Queen.

Salford City Mayor Paul Dennett, councillors and officers of Salford City Council are deeply saddened at the news of the death of Her Majesty the Queen.

We know that we represent the people of the city of Salford at this time in sending our condolences to the Royal Family.

The Queen was a much loved and highly regarded monarch, and we had the pleasure of her visiting the city on a number of happy occasions, most recently to the ITV Studios and MediaCityUK in 2021.

Salford City Mayor Paul Dennett said:

    Quote

“We know that we represent the people of the city of Salford at this time in sending our condolences to the Royal Family who will also mourn the Queen as a mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

“The period since the coronation of Queen Elizabeth has witnessed many momentous social changes.

“As our Monarch, the Queen demonstrated her devotion to a life of service to the country and it is fitting that we come together to honour her.

“As Head of the Nation, she has been a focus for unity and pride, and we will join the nation and our local community in mourning."

Flags will be lowered to half-mast to mark the death of our Sovereign and the bells of St Peter’s Church in Swinton will toll at 12.00pm on Friday 9 September for every year of Her Majesty the Queen’s life.

The people of Salford can leave their own tributes in condolence books at the official points:
