Latest figures show there were an average of 6 child casualties between 2014 and 2016, down from 25 in 2001 to 2003. And overall casualties have been reduced by more than a third with an average of 58 recorded incidents between 2014 and 2016, down from 90 between 2002 and 2004. The statistics come from Salford City Council’s road safety report which is published annually to show the number of people killed or seriously injured on the roads. Councillor Derek Antrobus, Lead Member for Planning and Sustainable Development, at Salford City Council said:
This summer Salford children are set to benefit from road safety sessions in Gateway centres and a Be Safe Be Seen campaign kicks off in late October when the clocks go back. |
