Salford Council declared their delight at news that their grass roots housing company Dérive has won its first award at the 17th annual North West Regional Construction Awards, which took place last night.
Residential Project of the Year (Sponsored by AB Engineering) was awarded to Salford Passivhaus for its fuel efficient and affordable housing that has been constructed in light of Salford being identified as an ‘energy crisis hotspot’.
This award recognises developments that provide a desirable and sustainable place to live. That demonstrate creative approaches from concept to delivery.
Organisations involved were, Identity Consult, Salford City Council, PRP Architect and Seddon Construction.

This was a very strong submission with strong evidence in support of all claims. Not only is this project ground-breaking for the region – it is an exemplar for the whole residential sector.
While taking people off the council waiting list, these affordable homes have been delivered to leading environmental performance to Passivhaus standards.
Important evidence about resident behaviour information came in support of this entry.
In a post made via it's social media platforms, a spokesperson for the council said:

A huge thank you to everyone in our Dérive team, Identity Consult, Seddon Construction and partners who have worked so hard to provide these affordable homes to people who are most in need on our housing register.
The new low energy homes have been designed to lower resident energy bills and this award is a testament to our commitment to providing truly affordable, quality housing in Salford.
