Wave-Field, a world-famous interactive art installation in the form of illuminated music generating seesaws, is making a stop at Salfords waterfront as part of its tour of the North West.

As us adults get older it gets harder to justify sitting on a see-saw, this is the perfect excuse.

Wave-Field is intended as a playful art installation made accessible to all. Visitors to the Quays are encouraged to become active participants in the art.

When motionless, the seesaws are dimly lit and emit a low sound, inviting passers-by to participate.

When set in motion, the seesaws burst into sound and light, which becomes richer as more users partner up, encouraging interactions and ‘the development of relationships, new and old’.

The see-saws are the brainchild of creators Lateral Office and CS Design with the accompanying futuristic soundscape provided by Mitchell Akiyama.
