The day follows Armistice Day which marks the ending of the First World War in 1918 – when the guns fell silent at the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month. Ceremonial Mayor of Salford Councillor Peter Connor said: “It’s a day to pause, remember and honour those who gave their lives for the peace and freedom we enjoy today. Their bravery and sacrifice will never be forgotten.” Members of the public are welcome to attend any of the services. Remembrance in Salford
