Teenage Band, The Height, Sell-Out Iconic Music Venue - SOLD OUT
6pm - 10pm Salford Lads Club
The Salford Lads' Club, a historic landmark immortalised by The Smiths in their album artwork, has long been a breeding ground for budding artists. It has played host to some of the most influential bands and musicians in the world. The Height's decision to perform there was a bold one, as the venue carries a sense of legacy and prestige that few newcomers can match.
Word of The Height's impending gig at Salford Lads' Club spread like wildfire. Their social media buzzed with anticipation, and tickets sold out within days of going on sale. The band's rise to popularity was attributed to their links to Smith guitarist, Johnny Marr, who has supported lead singer John Denton this year through grant funding. Most recently, Johnny described John as ‘the real deal’ in a Radio 2 interview.
The band's frontman, John Denton, is just 13 years old, yet has a stage presence that seems far beyond his years. His warm voice and poetic lyrics resonated with fans of all ages. The Height's songs often explored themes of teenage angst, love, and self-discovery, capturing the essence of youth in a way that feels authentic and genuine.
The Salford Lads' Club gig was not just a musical event; it was a celebration of youth culture. The band are joined by fellow teenage bands, Gromit and F3int, both from Greater Manchester. The crowd represents a diverse cross-section of ages, all eager to witness the teenage sensation in action.
Lead singer John Denton said, ‘This gig is an honour and a privilege. We hope we do the club proud and raise lots of money for our chosen charity, Francis House Children’s Hospice’. Bass player Brandon added, ‘We are launching our new EP at the gig and we hope we sell all the copies and raise lots of money for this amazing charity’.
The band kick off their set with their hit single, "One to Another," a song that had become an anthem for Salford City FC. It was also used to launch their new kit this season. It has been featured on playlists worldwide and has gained interest from record labels, management companies and Indie music fans. Dummer, Ted explained, ‘We chose this set-list to show off all of our new material and get the crowd going with some Manchester and Salford anthems!’.
What sets The Height apart from other teenage bands was their ability to convey a wide range of emotions through their music. Songs like "I Know There’s More" and "Nowhere" delved into the complexities of growing up, touching on themes of school, dreams, and the search for identity. Each note strikes a chord with audiences, evoking nostalgia in the older fans and striking a chord with the younger ones.
The Height's sold-out gig at Salford Lads' Club marks a turning point in their musical journey. It is not just a moment of triumph for the band but also a celebration of youth culture and the enduring power of music to connect generations. The Height have proven that age was no barrier to talent and that their unique blend of passion and authenticity could capture the hearts of audiences far and wide.
The Height, the teenage sensation from Salford, have not just sold out a gig; they will etch their names in the annals of music history, and their journey is only beginning. With a bright future ahead, The Height's sold-out show at Salford Lads' Club is just the first chapter in what promises to be an extraordinary musical odyssey.
