Emergency services descended on the petrol station at Morrisons in Eccles this morning (26th April) following reports of a gas leak.

A cordon was put in place but has since been removed.

The focus seemed to be around a collection of gas tanks to the side of the petrol station, with engineers from Cadent on site assisting.

Fire teams attended and were seen using hoses sprayed into the air to dissipate the gas, they have since left the scene.

The petrol station remains closed at the time of reporting but is due to reopen soon.

    A spokesperson for GMFRS, said:

“Two fire engines from Salford and Eccles fire stations were quickly mobilised to the scene. Firefighters have been working alongside colleagues from Cadent to isolate equipment on the site and ensure the area is safe.

“Crews remain in attendance at this time."
