SWINTON MEN JAILED AFTER BEING CAUGHT WITH £40K WORTH OF DRUGS

Two Swinton men who were caught with drugs worth more than £40k have been jailed for over eight years.

Andrew Pierce (15/11/1962), of Buchannan Street, Swinton, and Ernie Wilkes (07/04/1987), of Leinster Road, Swinton, were jailed yesterday (28 September 2020) at Manchester Crown Court.

The court heard that officers executed a warrant at Pierce's home address just after 7am on Wednesday 19 February 2020.

Following a search, a bag of white powder was found underneath a mattress and MDMA was found in a vacuum-sealed bag weighing almost half a kilo in the back cavity of a sofa - drugs with a street value of just over £42,000.

A total of £27,030 in cash was also found in the address along with drugs debtor's lists, paraphernalia and digital scales. Wilkes was staying with Pierce at his address at the time.

Wilkes was jailed for six years and six months after pleading guilty to possession of class A drugs with intent to supply and Peirce was jailed for two years and three months after pleading guilty to allowing his premises to be used in the supply of drugs.
