A talented footballer from Ardwick has been named after losing his life on Salford Quays on Sunday.
Despite multiple attempts from bystanders to rescue him, Ngapee Merenga tragically lost his life after diving into the inviting looking water to cool off after having played in as football match earlier in the day for the East Central Falcons FC in Ardwick.
The team has set up a GoFundMe page for his family to help with funeral costs. (Link Below)

A huge search operation conducted by GMP, GMFRS and assisted by the police helicopter, swung into action.
Unfortunately the outcome was not a good one with police confirming that sadly, his body had been located and subsequently recovered from the water shortly after 7:40pm.
An investigation is under way and a file passed to the coroners office in Bolton.
A police statement released yesterday said:
Quote
"At about 4.40pm today (Sunday 18 July), officers were called over concerns for a man in the water at Salford Quays.
"NWAS and GMFRS also attended but, sadly, the body of a 19-year-old man was recovered from the water at about 7.40pm.
"An investigation is under way and a file passed to the coroner."
