Police were called to an address on Cook Street, Eccles, at 7.26am on Tuesday 22 June 2021 to a report of a concern for the welfare of a man.

Emergency services attended and discovered the body of a 48-year-old man later named as Leigh Smith.

A 17-year-old male has been charged with murder and remanded into custody to appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court tomorrow (5 July 2021).

A fundraising page has been set up in his name to cover the costs of his funeral, it can be found on the following link: Crowdfunding to Help Leroys Family with the funeral costs on JustGiving

    The page states:

This page has been set up to try and help the family of Leigh Smith known to friends as Leroy with funeral costs and to enable the family to give him the send off he deserve's, Leigh was sadly taken away from his family under very tragic circumstances and his entire family have been left devastated at the loss of a loving Father, Son, brother and uncle.

Nobody should have to go through what Leroys family are going through, I am hoping that we can ease the financial burden a little for them.

All donations no matter the size will be greatly appreciated and if you could please share this page. Thank you.
