Earlier today, Thursday 31 May 2018, police arrested a 49-year-old man in Rochdale and a 30-year-old woman in Salford on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder.
Another woman, aged 35, was also arrested in Salford on suspicion of perverting the course of justice.
They remain in custody for questioning and Mr Massey’s family has been informed of the arrests.
These arrests follow yesterday’s action taken during a joint operation between GMP and Merseyside Police where three people were arrested in connection with the Paul Massey and John Kinsella murders.
They too remain in custody for questioning.
Paul Massey, 55, was shot dead at his home address on Manchester Road in Clifton on Sunday 26 July 2015.
Witnesses have described the offender as coming from the direction of the Clifton Community Centre and heading towards Paul’s house. He fired a series of shots before walking back to the centre’s car park and then in the direction of the side alley between the car park and St Anne’s Church.
A Home Office post-mortem concluded that Mr Massey died from a gunshot wound to the chest.
Detective Chief Inspector Carl Jones, of GMP’s Major Incident Team, said:
Quote“Following on from yesterday’s arrests we have three more people in custody who will be questioned by detectives in relation to Paul Massey’s murder.
“This means we now have six people in custody and our enquiries are continuing at this time.”
