The new major tram link will bring easier access to the Trafford Centre for Salfordians, having only previously been only accessible by either car or bus.
The £350m Trafford Park branch will see six new stops added to the network, offering a sustainable link to the busy visitor destination as well as into Trafford Park itself which is Europes largest trading estate and home to over 1,3000 business who employ more than 35,000 people.
The Imperial War Museum North will also be serviced by the new route, boasting its very own stop.
It will also bring a direct tram link between Manchester and the Trafford Centre for the first time and there are even future proposals to extend the link across the recently opened bridge which spans the ship canal at Barton, a move which would bring a much needed alternative access route for the Trafford Centre, Quays and Manchester for Irlam and Cadishead.
Trams have already been see testing the new line from Pomona.
As work nears completion, from the first quarter of 2020 the new route will bring direct Metrolink access to the much loved shopping centre for the first time.
The stops have been positioned along the new route at...
Wharfside: Next to Manchester Ship Canal and close to Manchester United Football Club.
Imperial War Museum North: Positioned by the world-renowned museum with access to MediaCityUK via the existing footbridges.
Village: On Village Way, near Village Circle and Third Avenue.
Parkway: At the existing Parkway Circle roundabout. The stop will include a Park & Ride with spaces for approximately 200 vehicles.
EventCity: By Barton Square and EventCity.
Trafford Centre: At intu Trafford Centre, Barton Dock Road.
