Some good news for the Three Sisters nature reserve in Ellesmere park today as Salford Councils planning panel unanimously signed off on Tree Protection Order which will allow the council to now monitor for any future proposals for work to be carried out on the trees so that they can ensure that they are given fill consideration.

In October 2020, United Utlilited sparked outrage in the surrounding community and among nature lovers after proposing to place a storm tank on an area of land on the site.

This was turned down by the planning panel after objections were made by local people and local politicians, including the cities wildlife champion, Councillor Lewis Nelson.

However there is still the threat of UU appealing the decision or even just to completely ignore it as they have a national mandate to carry out large infrastructure projects.

This added safeguard is a welcome addition to the fight to help preserve the area unspoilt for future generations to enjoy.

Over the past month or so, work to improve the area has been carried out and we took a walk this evening to check out the improvements.

Check out a few of the photos from our visit below.
