  • TWO ARRESTS ON DRUGS CHARGES AFTER SUSPECTED EXPLOSIVE TURNED OUT TO BE A FIREWORK

    Two men from Irlam have been charged with drug offences after police had to evacuate homes on Neville Drive in the town when they discovered what they considered to be an explosive device during a raid on a premises on the street.

    The device was later confirmed to be a firework by Army Bomb Disposal experts who were called to the scene.

    Liam Phoenix, 22, of Princess Avenue, Irlam, has been charged with being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs and possession of cannabis with the intent to supply.

    Jake Twist, who is also 22, of Neville Drive, Irlam, was charged with being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs, concerned in the supply of Class B drugs and possession of a bladed or sharply pointed article.

    Both have been remanded to appear at court today.
