Police are investigating after a fire tore through a student accommodation office on Seaford Rd in Lower Broughton at around 10:45pm last night (Sunday 6th September).
It is understood that a witness has claimed to have seen two men driving along on a black moped carrying a large bottle before hearing a smash of glass shortly before the fire broke out.
A man is said to have escaped uninjured from a flat above the Kexgill shop as the fire raged below.
Police cordoned off the area for a while and one of the fire services intrepid and highly trained sniffer dogs was sent into the building.
Firefighters were on the scene for several hours brining the fire under control and people could be seen accessing the damage to the building in the aftermath this morning.
