A man and a woman have been arrested after a toddler was discovered locked away with just a bowl of water in what is described as 'a small dark room the size of a prison cell', at a property on Bolton Road in Salford this Thursday (3rd October).
The child has since been taken into the protective care of Salford Council's children's service department and the man and woman have been arrested on suspicion of child neglect.
The age and sex of the child has not been released.
The man and woman have since been released under further investigation.
A police spokesperson said,

"Police were called shortly after 10.40am on Thursday, October 3 following a report of an unaccompanied child at an address on Bolton Road.
"Officers attended and a man aged 32 and a woman aged 30 were arrested on suspicion of child neglect at the scene a short time later.
"They have been released under investigation.
"The child was uninjured and is in the care of children’s services."Enquiries are ongoing."
