Police in Irlam & Cadishead have arrested two juveniles this morning on suspicion of committing Arson, following the large fire at the derelict Railway Pub on Liverpool Road, Irlam.

Both have been released on bail pending further enquiries and targeted intervention work from Youth Justice and Fire Service.

At around 4pm on Saturday (12th Feb) five fire engines from Eccles, Irlam, Birchwood, Lymm and Salford Central fire stations along with a Hydraulic Platform from Leigh were called to reports of a building fire involving a derelict pub on Liverpool Road, Irlam.

Reportedly two youths were seen entering the derelict pub shortly before the fire began.

Around 25 firefighters wearing breathing apparatuses and using two main jets and a hose reel worked to extinguish the fire and make the area safe.
