Empowered Brands, the fitness franchise investor spearheading the growth of the UK’s leading gym franchise, Energie Fitness, which has over 80 clubs and 114,000 members across the UK and Ireland, is introducing UBX Boxing + Strength to Media City, Manchester for the first time on Thursday 30th March. Co-owned by local franchisees Ben Waldron and James Worrall, who are also the co-founders and directors of the Manchester based Whitworth Leisure Group, UBX Media City is an inclusive fitness club that will deliver a unique mix of non-contact group boxing and functional strength training to those in the local area.
The concept itself co-founded in Australia by four-time world champion boxer Danny Green, and fitness and tech entrepreneur Tim West, as a fitness franchise like no other, UBX is the world’s fastest growing boxing community with more than 90 clubs across Australia, New Zealand and Singapore.
The expansion to Media City, Manchester, is the first club of its kind to launch in the UK, as part of an expected 250 club nationwide rollout within the next six to eight years, accelerating the brand’s mission to take boxing and transform it from an individual pursuit, into a team culture.
The UBX concept removes class timetables and bookings, disrupting the traditional gym format to provide ultra-flexibility, and so, members will be able to arrive whenever they want with a world-class coach always on hand to provide full support from start to finish.
With new, dynamic workouts offered daily to suit different skill and fitness levels, UBX’s easy-to-learn, full-body, science-backed workouts, can be completed in under 45 minutes, and combine boxing and functional strength training across a 12 x 3-minute round circuit, with 30 seconds rest in between.
UBX Media City Franchisee and Co-Owner, Ben Waldron describes how it feels to be opening the first UBX in the UK:
Quote"Being the first UBX in the UK makes us both proud to be at the forefront of this innovative brand and excited to be part of something new. Media City is an incredibly exciting place, that's all about creativity and innovation, which is exactly what UBX is about.”
Waldron adds:
