Updated: A controlled explosion of an item left on a mini roundabout has now taken place and the cordons have been lifted, it is not known what the package was but it is thought at this point not to be a bomb. GMP remain on scene to investigate. Everything is now back to normal in the area and traffic is once more flowing.
A army disposal unit robot carried out the explosion.
