The Met Office has issued a warning for heavy fog over Sunday night and into early Monday morning with temperatures as low as -3 °C in some parts.

Drivers are being told that there could be disruption to the road networks and driving could become treacherous on some stretches, so take into account extra journey times if you are heading into work or the school run.

Visibility could be down to just 100 metres in some areas as slowly moving patches of freezing fog drift across the region, so if you are out and about tomorrow, keep your speed down and leave space between yourself and the vehicle in front.

The fog is expected to lift as the day goes on and the rest of the day will be sunny but still chilly.

"Please take care and allow extra time for your journey."
