High winds and heavy rain have caused some damage to buildings around Salford Quays which has lead to the tram service between Eccles and Cornbrook being affected as well as this evenings performances which were scheduled to take place at The Lowry Theatre.
The theatre released the following via Twitter:
QuoteUnfortunately due to high winds and building damage on the Quays there are road closures affecting The Lowry. The Eccles to Cornbrook tram (light blue line) has also been suspended but the Cornbrook to Trafford Centre (red line) is still running.
Metrolink confirmed there was an issue with overhead power cables which was being dealt with, meaning the service for the rest of the evening will be disrupted.
A lorry reversed into scaffolding bringing overhead lines down onto the tracks near Anchorage tram stop, Salford Quays, there are closures on The Quays between the Duet Building and Broadway.
Ticket acceptance is in place on bus services 10, 18, 29, 33, 50, 52, 53, 67, 79, 100 for the Eccles line.
In addition to public transport, there are several destinations on this line that can be easily reached by walking.
Traffic on surrounding roads was also affected with heavy congestion on Regent Road and most other surrounding roads in and out of Manchester.
