    A 5-year-old child has been hospitalised from serious injuries after being hit by a white Mercedes car on Lower Broughton Road.

    The accident happened yesterday evening (12th May) and the 40-year-old driver of the vehicle was arrested as police suspected her of having committed driving offences. 

    The child is believed to have sustained serious injuries but they are not thought to be life threatening.

    A spokesperson for GMP said:

    “Police were called by the Ambulance Service to a report of a collision between a white Mercedes estate car and a child on Lower Broughton Road, Salford at around 6.20pm on Wednesday 12 May 2021.

    “The child, aged five, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

    “The driver of the car, a woman aged 40, was arrested on suspicion of driving offences."
