Emergency services were called after a 28-year-old man received injuries after an attack with an 'acid like substance' at around 11:50am on Brierly Road East in Swinton.
Police, Fire and Ambulance services were in attendance after being made aware of the incident by residents.
The young mans injuries are said not to be serious and he was treated by paramedics at the scene.
Police are not linking the incident to any related crimes and so far there have been no arrests made.
A spokesperson for GMP said:

"Shortly before 11:50am on Tuesday, July 7, police were called to reports of a disturbance on Brierley Road East, Salford.
"Enquiries suggest that an acid like substance was thrown at a 28-year-old man.
"The victim has received minor injuries that did not require hospital treatment.
"Officers believe that this is an isolated incident."
