  • YOUNG WOMAN RESCUED FROM WORSLEY BROOK IN WINTON

    Emergency services were called to Chestnut Road in Winton this evening following reports of a young woman needing assistance having falling into Worsley Brook, which runs alongside Worsley Road (B5211).

    Two fire engines were sent from Agecroft station to assist a water unit from Eccles in the safe rescue of the female.

    It is understood that the woman has not sustained any serious injuries from her ordeal.

    The reasons as to how she ended up in the brook are currently unknown but it is thought to have been accidental.

    A spokesperson for GMFRS, said:

    “Shortly before 5pm on Tuesday 1 August, firefighters were called out to Chestnut Road in Eccles to reports of someone in the water.

    “Two fire engines from Agecroft and Salford, with a Water Unit from Eccles, quickly attended the scene and assisted in removing a young female from the water. Fire crews were at the scene for approximately one hour.”
