    Good news for commuters..

The essential repairs that were undertaken on the Western Gateway Bridge at Barton are to be fully completed by 11pm this evening (Friday 24th Jan) and the bridge and route between Trafford and Irlam via Barton is to be reopened and fully operational by 1am in the early morning of Tomorrow (Saturday 24th Jan)

The A57 bridge was closed on the 13th of this month (Jan) to carry out essential repairs which could not be completed during an earlier work carried out in December 2019.

The work has been carried out in order to improve the mechanical maintenance of the bridge as well as perform essential maintenance.

The contractor Hocheif apologised for the inconvenience caused and said it had done all it could to minimise disruption over the past few weeks
