On Wednesday 3 January 2018 at around 6.40pm, a 52-year-old woman left Morrisons Supermarket on Kingsway and was walking towards her car.

As she took her car keys out of her bag, two unknown men approached her and hit her repeatedly to the head with an unknown object.

The men then demanded the keys and drove off in the woman’s black BMW 1 Series.

The woman sustained cuts to her head, a bruised left eye and bruising to her body all of which left her requiring hospital treatment.

One of the men is described as around 5ft 3in tall, wearing all back with a hood up and a round face mask.

The other is described as around 5ft 10in tall, of medium build and also wearing all black.

Officers investigating the incident are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Detective Constable David Read of GMP’s Rochdale Borough, said:

“Everybody should be free to go about their daily lives without fear or being attacked when carrying out simple tasks such as shopping.

“The audacity these two individuals have shown by inflicting wounds to the woman in a supermarket car park is beyond comprehension.

“We need to find those responsible so we can question them but may only be able to do so with the public’s help.

“I know it must have been a really scary time for those who witnessed it but please, if you saw something or know something, get in touch with us.”
