“I am delighted that Greater Manchester Police has become an accredited Living Wage employer. It is really important to us that all staff receive a wage that reflects the real cost of living which will help them better support themselves and their families.
“All of our staff are dedicated to making Greater Manchester a safer place and it is appropriate that we recognise their contribution to the work of the Force in this way.”
The Living Wage is an hourly rate of pay (£8.75) based on the real cost of living. It is different from the government’s so-called ‘national living wage’, which is a legal basic minimum wage rate of £7.50 per hour, based on median income and not the cost of living.
