After advice given on Thursday by the electoral commission, the UK Government has announced that May's local and mayoral elections in England will be postponed for a year in order to mitigate the impact of Corona Virus.

This will now mean that the 'All Out' Salford Council Elections will not take place on May 7th as planned.

The watchdog has deemed it to be too risky to hold the elections at that time and the Government now seemingly agrees as it is thought that the virus will hit its peak in the month of May.

This is not the first time that polls have been called off, in 2001 the elections were cancelled in some areas due to foot and mouth disease.

Elections will now take place in 2021.
